The school began in January 1995 with 19 classes in Juying Primary School. On 16 April 1995, it moved to its present site.
Mr Peter Chen, Senior Minister of State for Education and Member of Parliament for Hong Kah GRC declared the school open on 5 April 1997.
The school building underwent PRIME(Programme for Rebuilding and IMproving Existing Schools) from January 2007 to December 2008.
During this period, the school operated in a holding location, at the former Jurong Primary School building sited at the junction of Jurong West Avenue 1 and Jurong Canal Drive.
In 2009, PRIME was completed and the school resumed operations at its original site at Jurong West Street 81.
For the males, the top is a collared shirt in yellow with the school logo at the pocket, and shorts in green with a label of the school name. For the females, the top is the same as the male, except the females wear a skirt. PE attire is the same for male and female. The top is a collared white shirt with the school logo, and the shorts are black with a label of the school logo.
The Chinese name for this school(先驱小学) is the same as that of Frontier Primary School(先锋小学), when translated into English.[1]
